Tips On What to Expect from the First Pole Dance Class?

Pole dancing is quickly becoming the hottest new trend in fitness today. It is easy to see why because those that go through the learning process are going to feel and look much better. We can compare the workout that you gain from a pole dancing class with that of any cardiovascular workout in any sport. The added advantage stands in the fact that you will also increase strength and tone your body while burning many more calories than you would expect. In fact, most women that have started pole dancing are surprised to see how fast they are burning calories and do not notice the weight loss until it is highly visible due to the speed at which it happens.

There are many women that are not confident with how they look and this might be a problem. We all know that the best grip on the pole is done when you are using your skin. In all pole dance classes you will need to keep your arms and legs as clothes free as possible. This is because many moves will not be done at all if you wear clothes that cover these areas. Wear clothing that is close fitting, like yoga tanks, capris or shorts. Make sure not to wear any oils or lotions, as they will cause you to slip and are very dangerous. You may dance with your bare feet or with Pole Dance Stilettos/Stripper Shoes.

There are also some classes that demand that you are going to utilize pole dancing shoes but this is not a necessity in most of them.

Another thing that you can expect from your first pole dance class is sweating a lot and being faced with a tremendous workout. It is recommended that you only go to pole dance classes 2 to 3 days per week in the beginning. You will immediately see why in the second day after the first pole dance class. Your entire body is going to ache as your muscles are going to be used a lot. Muscles you never knew existed!

Intermediate/Advanced Pole Performance Class with Annemarie Davies will give students a chance to combine the variety of classes they take into one. Students will have the opportunity to create routines, shows and learn how to improvise. This will include the use of floor work, sensuality, pole tricks and dance moves.

Our dance classes like Pole Conditioning and Flexibility, Stiletto Fit, Sensual Movements, Bootylicious Bar, and Fantasy Floorwork that you have been attending will help provide the stamina, endurance and tantalizing moves needed to perform for 3-5 minutes at a time. Every two months, on a pre-determined date, there will be a night at Evolve where students that have taken the Performance Class can perform for friends, family, and other students.

You may use your stilettos or dance with your bare feet. Bring your favorite music, or send us your favorite song and we will download it. If you like we will video your performance and email it to you. The video will help you critique yourself, as well as be a point of reference as to what you would like to add to your performance for the next week. To add another dimension to your performance bring articles of clothing to be removed i.e. tube tops, g-strings, sexy panties, etc.

Pole Performance Class will give you the confidence to perform for others or even take it to the next level and compete nationally or internationally.

Do You Know Mina Mortezaie?

MIna Pole Dance ChampionMina is the current Pole Vixen Champion 2011, USPDF (US Pole Dance Federation) Amateur Champion. She also recently won the Tri Pole Bi-Polar Doubles competition with her partner Nadia Sharif.

Mina comes from a background in Dance and Gymnastics. She has trained in lyrical, ballet, hip hop, and modern jazz dance styles and performed with multiple dance companies. In addition to training in gymnastics she has coached children’s gymnastics for over 8 years. Her fitness background also includes: weight training, yoga, surfing and snowboarding. Mina has been Pole Dancing for over 2 years with experience from a number of different studios and styles. She brings grace, strength, and flexibility to her pole dancing. With a degree in Communications from UCLA, Mina’s resume includes experience in broadcast journalism and digital marketing. Mina’s biggest joy lies in the empowerment of women through the beautiful, strong and seductive art of Pole Dancing.

Mina was recently featured in the LA Times in an article titled: “The pole vaults into a new role.” The LA times described Mina by saying her “forte seems to be perfectly executed vertical and inverted split maneuvers.”


Mina has also been seen on national television teaching pole lessons to adult film stars in “The Secret Lives of Women” which airs on the Women’s Entertainment channel.

Mina’s clientele includes teaching the girls next door/playboy playmate twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon at the Playboy Mansion.

A study conducted in North-Western University (USA) showed that out of a group of 4400 men and women (aged 18-30) studied over a 15 year period, those with moderate or low fitness levels were twice more likely to develop high blood pressure and diabetes than those with high fitness levels.

According to studies, this proves that conditions such as, heart disease and diabetes are not all necessarily the result of aging. You can then of course partly control your own destiny by undertaking a suitable fitness regime. One of which is as much fun as the prospect of improving your long term health.

Physical activity such as pole dancing can fit all the suitable characteristics required to give you a fun yet, healthy lifestyle. This activity can have many health benefits. Regular exercise can improve lifestyle as well as improving health, some of which include; increased levels of HDL 'good' cholesterol, lowering raised blood pressure, boosting your immune system and improving your mood by reducing anxiety which can be caused by stress and lead to depression.
